Reflection

While finding out what my EEE things in my life are, I realized there are some things in my life that did not align with my values, and they're not easy, effortless, and enjoyable. Two I realized did not align with my EEE are the journalism classes that I am currently taking and hanging out with people who cheat and are untrustworthy. I was able to cut out hanging out with people who cheat and are untrustworthy and create a distance between myself and them. I felt like this was super important because it directly went against my values of love and respect, and when I really thought about it, I did not want to be associated with people who went against these values. Not only is it a bad look for me, but being around those types of people has the potential to jeopardize some of the things that are easy, effortless, and enjoyable for me. On the other hand, I could not cut out my journalism class as it is required for me to complete it. However, doing EEE helped me realize that I should not be prioritizing it over things on my EEE list. This has led to my grade dropping, but I definitely feel like my time is much better spent, and I am content with my grade lowering because of it. After finishing my EEE, I had a major realization that there was one thing in my life that jeopardized almost all of the items on my EEE list. This thing was marijuana. Smoking marijuana made it extremely hard to participate in the things in my life that were easy, effortless, and enjoyable for me. It made working on my business hard, it made me skip basketball games, it negatively affected my relationship with my girlfriend, and it made it hard to be fully present in my classes. It made me lazy and careless, which directly conflicts with my values of competition, love, adventure, and respect. Originally, I tried to cut down on my smoking, but it was not working, and I knew I had to quit smoking altogether. On October 1st, 2024, I officially quit smoking marijuana and have been going strong ever since. It was extremely hard for me for the first two weeks, but with support from those close to me, I am going strong. I truly believe that without the introduction to EEE, I would not have quit and would still be jeopardizing the things in my life that are important to me.
